CLASS serves persons with intellectual or other developmental disabilities in Cherokee, Crawford, Labette, and Montgomery counties and most often seeks job applicants for the direct support Coach position. CLASS also occasionally seeks job applicants for the Team Leader position. Any other open positions will be listed on this page.

A successful candidate for the Coach position must be energetic, positive, and mature, with a willingness to share their skills in the activities of daily living while helping others to become more independent. 

Requirements for the Coach position include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Good driving record
  • Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability

Hours for the Coach position are often compatible with college courses. Paid training is provided. Employees who work 30 hours per week or more are eligible for benefits after 90 days of employment, including: paid time off; health, dental, and life insurance; and paid holidays. A successful candidate for the Team Leader position must be energetic, positive, and mature. Team Leaders supervise Coaches to ensure the delivery of quality services to individuals with intellectual or other developmental disabilities. Through their staff, Team Leaders promote self-advocacy, empower clients to make their own decisions, and advance community inclusion and acceptance. Team Leaders ensure that staff assist clients in goal achievement through training. Team Leaders provide a link between management and non-management staff and promote teamwork. As supervisors, Team Leaders are responsible for conducting employee evaluations.

Requirements for the Team Leader position include:

  • Associate degree in developmental disabilities, psychology, special education, or related field
  • Two years of experience in a human services field
  • Good driving record

Previous supervisory experience and computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs are preferred.
